Dia de los Muertos

Join us on Saturday 10/30 from 10:00-4:00 for a multi-site celebration of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at various locations including the Mercantile Center, the JMAC, Worcester Public Library, and Worcester Art Museum! Check out the “Amor Hasta La Muerte” mural by Marka27 on display inside the Mercantile Center, and purchase an exclusive print of the mural here. A portion of the print proceeds will benefit the event and support the efforts to highlight racial health disparities in the Latino/a/e communities in Worcester and beyond. Enjoy Great food, local performances, music including a DJ and mariachis, Ofrendas, cultural activities and more inside the Mercantile Center from 10am-4pm. Stop by the Worcester Public Library for the Youth & Teen Art Activities Hosted by my organization, Main IDEA Youth & Arts! Enjoy a family story time about Dia de los Muertos at 2pm, create paper marigolds, calavara masks, and papel picado, take a photo with friends at our selfie station, and bring a photo from home and decorate your own frame to place on our community ofrenda! Lastly, be sure to visit the Worcester Art Museum to see their community ofrenda! created by Steering Committee member Maya Huel!

Join Guardians of Traditions, Main IDEA Youth & Arts, Creative Hub Worcester, and the PopUp in-person for this educational and fun workshop take on traditional mask making. Led by Dominican artist, educator, and creator of Iconic Urbe, Luis Rivas, your kids will learn how to create fun vibrant Carnival style masks using household recyclables. *Masks & social distancing required to attend.
